Machine Translation for Multilingual Information Processing

Marcello Federico
Human language Technology Research, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento, Italy

Abstract

My lecture will survey the state-of-the-art in machine translation by mainly focusing on the so called statistical approach, that has been dominating the scene during the last decade.

I will review approaches and methods developed to translate written and spoken documents, as well as available language resources and software tools that can be employed for multilingual information processing.
